During 2004 2nd Liphook Rainbows was merged into 1st Liphook Rainbows due to a shortage of Guiders. This meant that Tina who helped to bring the first Rainbow Unit to Liphook back in 1989 when she was a teenager, was now back with her original Unit.
In September 1st Liphook Rainbows helped with the making items for the carnival. The Rainbows are very good at this because at their age they are focused and concentrate very hard on getting a task done. They did the Oriental lettering that was on the back of the float in pride of place.
Christmas term was very glittery and sparkly ending in a party. which was terrific as mothers came to help.
After Christmas we did our 'Splash Badge.' That was fun as we discovered how bubbles were made and why they floated and how flowers and celery sucked up food colouring through their stems, we also covered water safety and saved lots of lives in our imaginary river. Water pollution was covered and trying to explain about spring water and why we drink it from bottles was again one of those funny moments.
The Easter term was once again a hive of activity with Easter bracelets and cards being made.
After Easter we decided to do the Angelina Ballerina feature from the Guiding magazine.
The girls all worked incredibly hard on their Angelina Ballerina costumes that were made week by week until the whole ensemble was complete and Fiona our Young Leader helped with ballet moves. They all looked super however we could not have achieved such a task without the help from Mrs Morgan, and our Young Leaders Fiona and Alex .
We ended summer term with our usual party with the theme this year being a Beach Party.
It is a very rewarding role being a Rainbow Guider and it only takes one Rainbow with a comment like - "Will the Canary Wharf bite me?" to put a big smile on your face!
