How to become a Guider

clip - Guider

In order to become a Guider you have to complete Girlguiding UK's Leadership Qualification.

This is not difficult, but enables you to gain skills and experience as you work with a Unit.

It is a very worth while qualification and is increasingly valued by employers and educational establishments. All you need is plenty of enthusiasm, patience, a sense of humour and to enjoy working with children and young people.

If you are interested in this, you will be assigned a mentor to assist you through the process. There will be trainings provided by County trainers, and you will be supported by the other Liphook Guiders and the District Coordinator.

You can either choose to do three modules which entitles you to be an Assistant Guider or take an additional module to entitle you to be a Guider in charge of a Unit.

Once you are qualified, there are plenty of opportunities to gain further optional qualifications such as Walking Safely, Life-guarding, Pack Holiday, Camp License, Camp fire singing leader and many others.

All warranted Guiders are expected to make (or renew) the Guide Promise:

I Promise
That I will do my best
To love my God,
To serve the Queen and help other people
and to keep the Guide Law
