LIPHOOK DISTRICT GUIDES
Occasional Events
Liphook District is a very busy one and takes part in so many events and activities that it would be impossible to list them all, but here are a few highlights from past years (not in any particular order):
~ District, Division and County swimming galas - many triumphs.
~ Coach trips to Holiday on Ice shows.
~ Visits to the Body Shop HQ with free samples for all.
~ Participating in County netball tournaments- lots of fun.
~ Region Brownies Fundaze, Foxlease - Ariel runways, rope bridges, go-carts were just a few of the activities the girls tried.
~ Entering teams of Brownies and Guides for the County Football Fun Day - our teams did really well reaching the semi final, and all had a great day out. The leaders we amazed at the girl's football skills.
~ Girlguiding Hampshire East's Millennium celebrations at Southsea (STOMP) - lots of people and lots of pomp and pageantry.
~ County Bulb planting on Portsdown Hill, near Portsmouth.
~ Attending annual local pantomimes, usually the 'MAD' (Methodist Amateur Dramatics) panto at the Bohunt centre. Usually some of our girls are involved in this production which is always great entertainment.
~ Participating in the annual Liphook in Bloom event.
~ Taking part in the Guide and Scout 'Gang Show' style entertainments - lots of work, great fun.
~ Organising our own District shows - ditto above.
~ Dance routines, fashion shows, songs, sketches and other presentations for District AGMs.
~ Forming a guard of honour for an important civic visitor, the Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire on Canada Day.
~ Carol singing with the residents at a local rest home. The girls really enjoyed chatting to the elderley people afterwards, and the mince pies were greatly appreciated!
~ Getting the girls involved in planting a tree at Bohunt Manor and putting up our marquee to lend to the organisers of the 'Plant a Tree Day' to use for the event.
~ District Guide and Senior Section sleepovers.
~ Taking part in Division Thinking Day celebrations when we sang the African folk tune 'A wimaway' and dressed a Brownie and a Guide in costume.
~ Scout and Guide Disco.
~ District parties and celebrations.
...and many other events.
