Another fun filled year of activities was enjoyed by the 2nd Liphook Brownies (and the Leaders too) including taking part in District and County events with the Brownies all having their own special personal memories.
As we have a very large Pack, we were fortunate that a number of our older Brownies had the opportunity to move up to Guides during 2005, making room for ‘tweenies' to come and experience Brownies before deciding to make their Promise.
We are pleased that these girls have now settled in nicely.
During 2004/5, the Pack joined in all the various District Activities which were enjoyed by all, whether it was being on the Carnival Float or giving service by bag packing at Sainsbury's.
Brownie Promise Ceremonies have varied and included walking through the imaginary woods on stepping stones to find the toadstool and pond; outdoor Autumn Promise Ceremony complete with sparklers; and during our summer garden party at Twilight Owl's house.
The Promise Ceremony is very important for the new Brownies, as this is the time that they commit to their Brownie Promise & Law and when The Owls welcome the new Brownies into the magical world of Guiding.
We try to make the occasion special for each girl and parents and families are invited to attend the ceremony.
It is also a time when all of the other Brownies and Owls renew their Promise and think back to their own Promise Ceremony.
Thirteen of our Brownies attended a pack holiday weekend at Hayling Island in March. See Brownie Pack Holidays.
The Brownies organised a Bring and Buy sale in aid of the Boxing Day Tsunami as our contribution towards the Girlguiding Tsunami Appeal.
With such wide coverage, together with photographs of school children who have been helped via Kim's contacts, (Kim is a District Guider) this disaster touched the hearts of the Brownies.
It also helped them to understand that Guiding is world-wide and that Brownies and Guides also suffered in this terrible disaster.
Whilst Brownies is about fun, it is also about learning and personal achievements. The Brownies worked on a number of badges throughout the year including Out & About; Hostess & Road Safety. Other activities included carnival preparation; making and using glass lanterns; Brownie adventure game; Christmas crafts; Lavender coat hangers for Mothers/Grandmas; Cooking with Chocolate ~ Easter Nests & Hedgehogs; crafts including cards and fantasy film dragon flies to name but a few.
