LIPHOOK DISTRICT GUIDESIntroduction to Liphook District
The village has a good community spirit and is popular with families. It is surrounded by large areas of open countryside, woodlands and hills. Our Guide District buzzes with activity. We are always busy with lots of events, and the Guiders work well together. This creates an excellent environment for the girls in the Units to experience a wide range of interesting, exciting and fun activities. Liphook Guiding celebrated 25 years as an independent District in 2005. So much has been achieved that it could never all be written down or recorded, but the legacy of Liphook Guiding exists in the happy memories of all the many girls and adults who have benefited from being members over the years. We hope many more girls will benefit in the future too. See our History Section if you are interested to read about events from the past and how Liphook Guiding began. There is also a page of memories and anecdotes collected from past and present members of Liphook District Guides. These will probably make you smile even if you have never been a member! See Memories and Anecdotes. Liphook District Guides currently (2008) comprises the following groups:
We have around 30 adults (2008) directly involved in running the Units, and around 170 girls aged between 5 and 17 in the District. Add to this our Friends of Guiding and Trefoil Guild members, and this is over 200 people!
The Guide and Scout halls are available for hire for events, parties, Pack Holidays etc. See Hire our Hall. To view a list of attractions, sports facilities, countryside walks and things to do in the local area, see Places to Visit. If you are planning to visit Liphook for the first time, you may like to print off detailed directions of how to find the Scout and Guide Halls: These directions should be read in conjunction with the interactive map below.
