ROUTE TO RADFORD PARK AVOIDING THE VILLAGE CENTRELeaving the Scout and Guide halls by the main front door, cross over the road into the overspill car-park. Turn left and at the far end exit, use the two pedestrian crossings which take you over the supermarket access roads.
Follow the path until you reach Sainsburys itself and then turn left and walk along the front of the building. Turn right at the corner, and follow this path past the semi-circular seating area and through the trees into the village car park. The Parish office will be on your left.
Walk diagonally across the car park to the far corner. The exit cannot always easily be seen until you are close. Go out of the car park and along the path with the brick wall on your left.
At the end of the path, turn left onto the drive and walk along. (Chiltley Manor will be behind you). Just before reaching the road, you will see a paved pathway leading off through the trees to your right.
Walk along this path roughly parallel to the road, passing a pond on your left.
You will then reach Haslemere Road, which you should cross (take care) and then turn right.
Walk along Haslemere Road for a minute or so, and you will come to a turning on your left called Malthouse Meadows which you should take. You will pass an entrance into the recreation ground if you want a diversion.
Continue along Malthouse Meadows but keep left where the road forks around a triangle, and you will soon see the white sign for Radford Park ahead.
Go down the slope into the small car park. You can either go up the steps ahead of you onto the grassy area, which is ideal for picnics or games, or turn right into the wooded area.
Suggested walk route in Radford Park:
Turn right from the car park and follow the path keeping roughly straight ahead. It will take you in a circular route through trees around the outside of the park. You will eventually find yourself at the duck pond.
You can either shorten the walk and cross the bridge just before the pond which will take you back via a right turn to the car park.....
....or continue past the pond along the track for a few minutes, and you will see an arched wooden bridge (suitable for Pooh sticks!). Cross the bridge and then turn left to walk back across the grass to the car park.
Have a good walk!
